ALSTASAN SILVOX (Silver Hydrogen Peroxide based Biodegradable Floriculture Disinfectant) addresses the following areas of concern without causing harmful/toxic effects.

 

Method of application: 

Regular treatment by Spray method:

A solution of the disinfectant is made and sprayed on the plants once in every 7-15 days helps in treating the following diseases:

  • Aphids are sucking pests that attack buds, flowers of the plant which fail to open leading to drop in plant yield
  • Brown Rot by Phytophthora sp., account for browning foliage with a leathery tan, giving off a pungent smell
  • Pseudomonas syringae causes dark leaf spots with a yellow halo
  • Fusarium oxysporum causes Fusarium wilt seen as curled necrotic leaves starting from the tips
  • Anthracnose, by Colletotrichum sp., Glomerella sp. causing browning of leaves beginning from the apex towards the base with/ without sporulating bodies. The orchids develop watery black-brown raised lesions in the petal undersides which merge together to cover the entire flower
  • Leaf Spots, by Cercospora sp., Guignardia sp. occur as tiny yellow-purple leaf spots which run along the veins and later elongate into larger streaks or lesions
  • Botrytis Petal Blight, by Botrytis sp., is identified by tiny black-brown petal spots that may enlarge and cover the entire flower. A gray fungal can also be seen on the severely infected or decaying flowers

Regular treatment by Drip method:

The disinfectant is added to irrigation water and fed to the soil bed through drip line. It is advised to repeat this process once in every 15 days. Helps in the treatment of the following diseases:

  • Soft Rot identified by sunken grey-orange lesions on the taproot which soften and often collapse the tissue, is caused by Erwinia sp.
  • Black Rot or Damping off by Pythium sp., Phytophthora sp. causes wilting of leaves at the soil level, causing young plants to topple and die   

Regular treatment by Drench method:

A fair dilution of the disinfectant is made and the solution is drenched to each plant every 15-30 days. Helps in treating the following diseases:

  • Soft Rot identified by sunken grey-orange lesions on the taproot which soften and often collapse the tissue, is caused by Erwinia sp.
  • Black Rot or Damping off by Pythium sp., Phytophthora sp. causes wilting of leaves at the soil level, causing young plants to topple and die   
  • Brown Rot, by Rhizoctonia sp. gradually begins from the younger roots progressing to the mature ones
  • Collar Rot or Southern Blight, by Sclerotium sp. is identified by rapid collapsing and rotting of the roots, pseudobulbs, and leaves which turn creamy yellow. The fungus thrives at high temperatures and humidity, and is often seen as a white mycelial mat on the affected regions

Soil Fumigation:

A solution of this disinfectant is applied uniformly on the moistened soil beds of orchid cultivation. Helps in the treatment of the following:

  • Soft Rot identified by sunken grey-orange lesions on the taproot which soften and often collapse the tissue, is caused by Erwinia sp.
  • Collar Rot or Southern Blight, by Sclerotium sp. is identified by rapid collapsing and rotting of the roots, pseudobulbs, and leaves which turn creamy yellow. The fungus thrives at high temperatures and humidity, and is often seen as a white mycelial mat on the affected regions
  • Leaf Spots, by Cercospora sp., Guignardia sp. occur as tiny yellow-purple leaf spots which run along the veins and later elongate into larger streaks or lesions
